Background

Point of purchase (POP) displays are marketing materials placed in retail stores to promote products or services. They are designed to attract attention and encourage shoppers to buy the products being displayed. PVC compounds are a popular material for POP displays because they are relatively inexpensive, durable, and easy to process.

Some of the advantages of using PVC compounds for POP displays:

  • Cost-effectiveness: PVC POP (Point of Purchase) compound fittings are cost-effective compared to other polymers.
  • Durability: PVC is a durable material that can withstand the wear and tear of a retail environment.
  • Versatility: PVC compounds can be used to create a wide variety of POP displays in different shapes and sizes.
  • Printability: PVC compounds can be printed with custom branding and messaging.
  • Lightweight: PVC is a lightweight material, making it easy to transport and install POP displays.

Overall, PVC compounds are a versatile and cost-effective material for POP displays in comparison to other polymers. They offer a good balance of durability, printability, and lightweight properties.

Challenge

Finding a solution that would translate out of the lab specifications to the customer’s actual production lines was challenging due to the constraints of global supply chains for traditional and new additives and raw materials.

Solution

9219 is an improved version of the traditional 9209 compound. It offers a wider processing window to meet the customers’ needs and flexibility, extending its processing and runtime.

Conclusion

Since the introduction of 9219, the feedback from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. The improvements to the processing window and performance have ultimately led to its expansion into other markets outside of POP.

A marked increase in the processing window and capabilities of the new 9219 compound is seen by all of our customers across numerous types of applications. Customers are now able to run extended production runs without needing to stop to clean dies.
